Keep it up!

'Keep it up!' is a intuitive, beautiful app that helps keeping good habits for busy and scatterbrained ones.

Problem Statement

  • Many of us want to start with good habits that will improve the quality of our life. The problem is, it's really easy to lose motivation when you can't see progress right away. At the beginning of implementing a new habit, it is also easy to forget about the planned action — especially if you are a very busy or scatterbrained person. A mobile application could help with this, but an additional application on the phone means additional time each day that you have to spend on using it.

Audience

  • Busy and forgetful people who want to improve their quality of life by introducing good habits. They like to see the results of their actions - it motivates them. They like technology and mobile applications that are simple and aesthetic.
  • Persona

  • Darek Nowak — 31 years old, well educated backend developer working 9-5 in software house. Darek likes order, he is organized at work, but in his private life he is forgetful and easily distracted. Darek likes doing sport and preparing good food, but in everyday life he lacks regularity in this actions.

Role

  • Product Designer, UX & UI Design, prototyping

Process

  • - Research & interview - as a first step we were chatting and thinking of the biggest pain points with building habits when you are very busy and forgetful person. We compared all habit tracking apps we were using before and analyzed what was good and what was missing.
  • - User personas - we created persona based on our research.
  • - User story - after research and interviews we created user story to write down user needs and goals.
  • - Features - basing on user story we were thinking on possible features that would help users get their goal. In the same time we had to remember that it's MVP, so we had to choose the most important features only.
  • - User journey map - in user journey map we were working on 3 most important paths:
    1. First contact with product and setting habits to start.
    2. User opens the app just to add finish action.
    3. Checking progress and stats.
  • - Wireframes - at this stage we had all information needed to start sketching wireframes. I was working on this using pen and paper.
  • - Low-fidelity prototyping - after wireframes were created I started working in Figma to create interactive low-fidelity prototype. On this stage I was making components so later it will be much easier to implement styles in prototype.
  • - Style guide & logo design - At this stage I created styles and logo for this app. The design was supposed to be simple and transparent but also beautiful, energetic and not too serious.
  • - High-fidelity prototyping - I implemented logo and style guide into low-fidelity prototype to create beautiful high-fidelity prototype.
